Register

Register is a checkbook register for people who want to know where their money actually went — not a budgeting app that nags, and not a service that wants your bank login.

There is no account to create and no server holding your ledger. Everything lives on your device. If you want your register on more than one device, it syncs through your own Dropbox — the app writes to its own folder there and nowhere else.

WHAT'S IN IT

• A real register — running balance on every row, day-by-day grouping, and the accounting convention that deposits post before withdrawals on a shared date
• Multiple accounts — bank, credit card, cash and other, each with its own currency, icon and color
• Transfers as proper two-sided pairs, so moving money between your own accounts never distorts a balance
• Split transactions — divide one purchase across as many categories as it deserves
• Categories with sub-categories, plus tags for the things categories can't express: a trip, an event, anything reimbursable
• Per-category budgets with month-to-date spend and color-coded progress
• Recurring bills — daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. Let a bill post itself and catch up any periods you missed, or just remind you when it's due. A bill on the 31st stays on the last day of each month instead of drifting to the 28th after February.
• One place for every recurring bill, with its next due date. Stop one and the bills it had already scheduled ahead come out of your register too.
• Upcoming bills on the dashboard, and reminders for bills due in the coming week
• Favorites — save a purchase you repeat and post it again in one tap
• Receipt photos from the camera or your gallery
• Twelve reports — cash flow, spending and income by category, daily trend, net worth, spending by account and by tag, top payees, budget vs actual, cumulative this month, year-over-year and a rolling six-month view — filtered by period and by account
• A month-grid calendar — tap any day to see what happened on it
• Search and filter the register by payee, status, amount window or date range
• An in-field calculator: type 12.50 + 3.99 in any amount box
• CSV import that reads the files banks and finance apps export, and warns you before bringing in transactions you already have

PRIVACY

No advertising. No data brokers. No bank connections. Your ledger is not uploaded anywhere except the Dropbox folder you choose to connect, under your own account.
