Chipolo uses location data to display the last known location of your Chipolo tracking tag in the Chipolo app, to trigger Out of Range Alerts on your phone and to display your phone's location in the Chipolo web app, even when the app is running in the background. Additionally, Chipolo may use your location when scanning for nearby Chipolo tracking tags as part of the community search feature that helps our users find each other’s Chipolos.

Tried this for a while and honestly I'm not impressed. The Chipolo app feels a bit useless. It's just for managing the tracker - can't do anything with the map (why is there a map tab then?). For some reason there is a take a selfie option, but no way to check the tracker's battery life lol. Also, the notifications are annoying because it goes off randomly while I'm still within the house with the item, so I ended up turning that off. The range is way too short. Needs work.

For Chipolos that are primarily paired in Find Hub app, Chipolo app only adds extra features such as Out of Range alerts, Call your phone (by double pressing Chipolo), Selfie trigger, changing ringtone,...
All the main functions (ringing, locating, battery status,...) are available in the Find Hub app.

Having now 3 chips for almost a year, I'm half convinced... When it works it's great: its integration with the "Google find my device" is nice and praticable, battery use OK, and the sound loud enough. Unfortunately, too many times a chip cannot be found or bipped whereas totally in reach of the phone... And this for no good reason (well connectivity issues I presume..). Had to do a factory reset twice already..

Does not work. I bought two cards and tried to charge both as instructed. One card charged, and the other is completely unresponsive (no beeps or light when pressing the button or charging). I tried to pair the one that isn't defective, but the app just spins and spins saying it is adding the card, which it obviously isn't. I had to uninstall the app to get it to stop. Tried again in accordance with the directions and the same thing happened. Expensive pieces of useless plastic.

New CARDs need to be paired in Google's Find Hub app first, only then can they be added to the Chipolo app.
